Project Overview


This project is based in a lead-zinc mining site in Nigeria, where the raw ore quality varies significantly. To ensure the extracted ore meets the requirements for industrial applications, the client adopted a lead-zinc ore flotation process to improve both the ore grade and the overall recovery rate.

Flotation Process


The flotation method is widely used in lead-zinc ore beneficiation due to its ability to selectively separate minerals based on surface properties. By adding chemical reagents, valuable minerals such as galena and sphalerite are floated away from gangue materials.


The flow includes crushing, screening, grinding, classification, flotation, concentration, and dewatering. The key equipment used includes:

       
    • Jaw crusher for primary crushing
       
    • Circular vibrating screen for size separation
       
    • Ball mill and hydrocyclone for grinding and classification
       
    • Flotation machine to separate lead and zinc minerals
       
    • Thickener and filter press for final concentrate dehydration

On-site Operation & Performance


Here is a step-by-step outline of the system in action:

       
    1. Crushing and Screening: The PE600×900 jaw crusher breaks down large ore blocks, while the 2YK2460 screen separates particles by size.
       
    1. Grinding and Classification: The MQ2745 ball mill grinds ore to the required fineness, followed by classification using FX250 hydrocyclones.
       
    1. Flotation Process: Chemical reagents are added to the slurry in the SF8 flotation cells, achieving over 90% recovery of valuable lead and zinc minerals.
       
    1. Concentration and Dewatering: The NZY12 thickener reduces slurry volume and the XAMY-250 filter press removes water, leaving a dense, solid concentrate.
